چکیده

Inadequate climate data stations often make hydrological modelling a rather challenging task in data-sparse regions. Gridded can be used as an alternative; however, their accuracy replicating the climatology of region interest with low levels uncertainty is important to water resource planning. This study utilised several performance metrics and multi-criteria decision making assess widely gridded precipitation temperature against quality-controlled observed station records Lake Chad basin. The study’s findings reveal that products differ quality across selected metrics, although they are especially promising regards temperature. However, there some inherent weaknesses data. Princeton University Global Meteorological Forcing showed worst performance, Kling–Gupta efficiency 0.13–0.50, mean modified index agreement 0.68, similarity coefficient SU = 0.365, relative other satisfactory all stations. There were varying degrees mismatch unidirectional trends, hydro-climatic information level uncertainty. Assessment based on revealed Climate Research Unit, Precipitation Climatology Centre, Prediction Centre Unit exhibit better terms similarity, recommended for application impact studies—especially quantification projected hazards vulnerabilities policy

Deficiency and inappropriate distribution of reengage station is one of challenges faced by researchers in hydrology and climate science. In this research, evaluate the applicability of four gridded precipitation data products ERA-Interim, PERSIANN-CDR, PERSIANN-CCS and CRU as a supplement or substitute for ground data in a monthly time scales. This assessment was done by comparison with observ...

Evaluation of gridded multi-satellite precipitation (TRMM -TMPA) estimation performance in the Upper Indus Basin (UIB)

Data with acceptable gridded resolution of daily climatic variables are critical for hydrological and water resource modeling. The gauge-based interpolation methods usually used by hydrologic models in general do not cover the spatial heterogeneity of the variability of climatic variables in a catchment. The errors in the interpolated data fields have the potential to significantly bias hydrolo...

Extended abstract 1- Introduction     In order to calculate the erosive power of rainfall, high-resolution precipitation data are necessary for rainfall erosion evaluation. However, collecting the required data on kinetic energy of the rainfall particles and precipitation rates with short-term temporal resolution is a time-intensive task, particularly in developing countries, and the collecte...

Estimating Historical California Precipitation Phase Trends Using Gridded Precipitation, Precipitation Phase, and Elevation Data

Climate change projections for California indicate reduction in the percentage of precipitation that falls as snow, and increase in the percentage that falls as rain, due to warmer temperatures in the future. Previous work has shown overall decreases in rainfall / snowfall ratios for the western US over the last 60 years. Of interest in this study is the quantification of snow/rain ratios for s...

Evaluation of Gridded Precipitation Data for Driving SWAT Model in Area Upstream of Three Gorges Reservoir

Gridded precipitation data are becoming an important source for driving hydrologic models to achieve stable and valid simulation results in different regions. Thus, evaluating different sources of precipitation data is important for improving the applicability of gridded data. In this study, we used three gridded rainfall datasets: 1) National Centers for Environmental Prediction-Climate Foreca...
